ROSMIT IS A POLITICAL PRISONER

On May 2 at 2am, officials from the National Intelligence Service (SEBIN) illegally detained, without an arrest warrant, Rosmit Mantilla at his residence in Caricuao, Caracas. Neighbors and family members claimed that SEBIN officials executed irregular procedures to justify their actions against Rosmit Mantilla, by putting cash inside envelopes signed by Rosmit intended to support violent demonstrations.

That same day, the minister of National Security Miguel Rodriguez Torres accused Rosmit Mantilla of conspiracy and financing violent demonstrations against the government.

On May 6, Rosmit Mantilla was charged with five crimes: public instigation and intimidation; obstruction of roads; burn of public and private buildings; violent damages; and association to commit crime. The judge decided that Rosmit remains in prison 45 days until the trial begins and the prosecutors prepare their case.
